Lacking the half-titles to Vol.III, showing some foxing, staining, a few tears and some slightly loose stitching, it was estimated at £15,000-20,000 in its contemporary bindings of red half roan but almost doubled the high estimate to sell at £38,000.

The last copy in original boards seen auction was the ex-Hogan/Doheny copy that in 2010, at Sotheby’s, sold for £48,000.
