They are part of the library of Sir Edward O’Brien, 2nd Baronet (1705-65), which passed down by descent until a sale held by James Adam & Sons (now Adam’s) in 1962.
The books to be offered in the Clearwater Florida rooms include an 1819 four-volume set of Robert Burns’ poetry, each of which is decorated with a foredge painting and identified as View of Ayr, View of Kirkoswald, View of Irvine and View of Kilmarknock. The estimate is $1000-2000.
A further selection of books from the library will feature in the auction house’s January sale.
