Appealing to the buoyant market in fans, a 15¾in (40cm) wide white metal and shibayama decorated example went at 10 times the top estimate at Ewbank’s (22.5% buyer’s premium) sale at Woking on September 12. Decorated with two fighting cocks in a garden landscape, it went to a UK buyer on the phone at £5400.
