This late 19th century French ‘devil band’ mantel clock sold for £4100 at Bellmans.
The 22½in (57cm) high spelter and bronze-mounted clock was modelled with a demon astride the drum case which enclosed a two-train striking movement.
Estimated at £300-500 at the August 4-9 sale at Billingshurst, it sold to an American bidder at £4100.
