Pickering Antiques opened last month and will be holding an antiques valuation day on Sunday, September 16.

The centre is the latest local venture from Craig Cooper, whose family have been in business in the town for more than a century. The centre’s manager, Nicola Garrard, said: “One of the reasons that Mr Cooper decided to open the centre was because the old one was much missed by locals and visitors to the town.

"So he decided to do something about that and had the new premises, which are close to the former centre, completely refurbished.”

The Antiques Roadshow-style valuation day will offer seven specialists, including Charlie Ward of David Duggleby Auctioneers in Scarborough on pictures and jewellery, and Bridlington-based Nick Gerrard with railwayana.
