Philip Belcher, who joined Bellmans in May 2016, has been promoted to senior executive director.

He will lead the firm alongside Will Pasfield as director of operations and Anne Penfold as director of administration, who have also both been promoted.

Belcher, formerly deputy chairman at Christie’s South Kensington and a senior director of Christie’s UK, will be charged with winning new business for the firm.

Pasfield will take control of sales and operational functions while Penfold manages pre-and pos t- sale cl i ent communication.

‘Innovative structure’

Belcher said: “Bellmans has a strong track record with a popular and loyal following. The innovative management structure recognises the skills and expertise that Anne and Will have, with nearly 50 years’ experience between them.”

The new management team will run the firm on a day-to-day basis and Patrick White (also of art logistics company Gander & White) remains its majority shareholder.

Pratt, who has now begun work in Newbury, had been managing director of Bellmans since 2005, overseeing its considerable expansion. The firm, founded in Wisborough Green, West Sussex, in 1989, opened a second saleroom in Winchester in 2016, run by Iain Rushbrook. It has a consignment office in central London.

Bellmans’ November auction will be led by Edward Seago’s Haymaking, estimated at £25,000-35,000.
