As well as articles and reviews, the periodicals featured a selection of lithographs by various modern masters such as Matisse, Picasso, Miró and Chagall.
All the works in the exhibition were made specifically for these publications, which offer snapshots of modernist culture in the French capital.
Derrière le Miroir debuted in 1946 as many artists returned to Paris after the Second World War. It was run by dealers Aimé and Marguerite Maeght who launched it as a catalogue for their own gallery as well as a more general art publication.
Tériade, a Greek expatriate born Stratis Eleftheriades, launched Verve in 1937.
He arrived in Paris to study law but quickly moved into the art world as a patron and critic. He worked on several other art publications before launching Verve. It was conceived as a work of art in itself – early literary contributors included James Joyce and Ernest Hemingway – and was published until 1960.
