1 How did you get your start?

As a van driver for a very grand dealer in London.

2 What is one challenge facing the trade at the moment?

Lack of appreciation of the quality of materials and workmanship that went into producing items 200 years ago. However, now is an ideal time to start collecting.

Although there is not the same flow of goods, they have never been better value.

3 What is a highlight you have on offer this summer?

A super, early George III walnut bracket clock from the Summerfield sale of 1989. My father first bought it and we sold it immediately, regretting it just as quickly. Happily, we now we have it back again.

4 Who do you admire in the antiques market?

All the optimistic dealers I meet on the road, still doing hundreds of miles a week.

5 Real ale or espresso martini?

I have never had, nor do I wish to have, an espresso martini. May I have a slightly chilled pint of IPA or a glass of vino?
