Created by US designer Robert Sonnerman for George Kovacs in the US, c.1987, this striking desk lamp is in a rare yellow and red colourway. It costs £1200 with Allan Bellamy of Gazelles of Lyndhurst who aims to offer it at the Eltham 20th Century Decorative Arts Fair in September.
Bill Jones, who deals in 20th century decorative arts from his shop on the south coast and who is a regular exhibitor at the Eltham Palace fairs, said: “I have jumped into the breach and hired the Old Colfeians Rugby Club in Eltham Road, six minutes from the palace, for the Eltham 20th Century Decorative Arts Fair which will run on Saturday and Sunday, September 14-15.”
He added: “So far we have 32 specialists stalling out in the hall and a marquee at the club. These include 18 Eltham Palace regulars who are well known in the trade: Deco Dave (aka Dave Hornik Unger) Hilary Conquy, Shine on Deco and Art Deco Art. New to this fair is Glen Goldstone who has a huge stock of Art Deco chrome cocktail shakers.”
