This Joseph Farquharson oil of his garden in Aberdeenshire sold for £5000 at Clarke's.
Quite different from his trademark snowy winter landscapes, the 20 x 2ft (55x 91cm) summer scene of flowers blooming at Finzean House – the home of the Farquharson family since the 17th century – made £5000 (£300-500 estimate).
The auction took place on November 9.
