1. This 9 x 8in (23 x 20cm) watercolour of a Breton girl wearing traditional costume by Arthur Romilly Fedden (1875- 1939), dated 1902, sold at Gardiner Houlgate in Corsham on January 17. The English painter lived in Paris before the war in 1914 and died from injuries sustained in the crash of the Sud Express in Spain on the eve of the Second World War.
2. This 20 x 15in (50 x 39cm) oil on canvas by Liverpool artist Will Charles Penn (1877-1968), dated 1947, sold at Chichester saleroom Henry Adams. Awarded the Military Cross in 1918, Penn was an influential teacher at Liverpool School of Art from 1911 until after the Second World War.
3. This 10½ x 14in (26 x 36cm) watercolour, Ye Strolling Players, is by John Hassall (1868-1948), famous for creating The Jolly Fisherman in 1908 for the Great Northern Railway. It sold at Lawrences of Crewkerne in Somerset and is inscribed: To Hermann Finck/ for kind services rendered Dec 7th `07.
