The exhibition, which runs from January 24-Feburary 15, comprises oil paintings and works on paper created throughout her career.

The Modern British artist studied at the Slade School of Fine Art and made a living teaching and painting as well as producing stage designs.

After serving in the Land Army and Woman’s Voluntary Service during the Second World War, she married fellow artist Julian Trevelyan (1910-88) in 1951. Trevelyan is the subject of a major retrospective at Pallant House in Chichester until February 10.

Like many of Fedden’s works, Fish and Lemon is a still-life that gives each element weight and space. Also included are scenes from her travels in places such as Brittany and Spain as well as seascapes and images of cats, sheep and human figures, either separate or in groups.

This picture is offered for £19,000 and comes to the market from a private collection after being acquired directly from the artist.
