“It is important that we have plenty of stunning mid-century lighting at all our shows and pop-ups,” says Lucy Ryder Richardson, co-founder of the Midcentury Modern Shows.
They have their next outing on Sunday, March 10, with 85-plus vintage dealers including five new exhibitors as well as contemporary designers stalling out in the natural light-filled surroundings of Christisson Hall, Dulwich College, south London.
Mid-century lighting has long been a design winner for its sheer style.
Ryder Richardson adds: “This month at the show we have a Fifties ‘jug’-shaped raffia lamp from GP-Light & More which we have never seen before in the 16 years of organising these shows.
“Modern-id specialises in unusual Scandinavian hanging lights while a new dealer at our shows, Morgan Jackson, is bringing a hand-built hanging frame packed full of Italian mid-century chandeliers as well as 1950s Verner Panton table lamps.”
Later this year Midcentury Modern will have a pop-up selling event in Yorkshire at The Hepworth Wakefield, the art gallery dedicated to the sculptor Barbara Hepworth who was born in the town.
