Owner Christian Scrimgeour, who started her first business, a mushroom farm, in the arches by Flat Iron Square, said: “The extra space at Vinegar Yard means that the flea can accommodate traders with larger pieces of furniture. Expect to see tables, armoires and mirrors being carried home along Bermondsey Street.”
Expect also to find brocante, ceramics, artworks, out-of-print books, vinyl, jewellery, vintage coats and frocks plus street food stalls and bars. The fleamarket runs every Saturday and Sunday but 10 vintage pop-up shops using containers are open all week.
Vinegar Yard is five minutes’ walk from Bermondsey Square, home to the renowned Bermondsey Square Antiques Market held every Friday from 6am-2pm with 120 stallholders. This great market survivor from the 1960s with a long earlier history is traditionally popular with the trade and big on silver.
The weekly antiques market is one of three in London run by the ebullient Mike Collins, director of specialist market operator Sherman & Waterman, with the others at Covent Garden in the Jubilee Hall every Monday and at Spitalfields Indoor Market on Thursdays.
