1 What is your focus?
We deal in ceramics, glass and printed ephemera from the 18th-20th centuries, our focus being on quality, historical and decorative interest. My background as an academic historian informs our selection of the items that we stock. We do not have a pre-determined range of manufacturers and will consider any item that meets our criteria for stock.
2 What is one challenge that buyers currently face?
Finding items that fit their decorative schemes at realistic prices.
3 What is encouraging about the antiques market this year?
Based on our experience, there is a reviving interest in 18th century porcelain and prints.
4 What is one question it is important for people to ask before buying?
We have found that some folks who purchase antique plates do not realise that they are not dishwasher-proof. Now we always point this out discreetly.
5 What is one object you couldn’t do without?
A camera for recording what we see and experience.
