The fair’s three most recent years have been disrupted as works continued at its venue, The Buxton Pavilion Gardens’ Octagonal Hall. In 2016-17 the event was held at an adjacent marquee. Last year, as works overran, organiser Cooper Events was forced to call it off.
However, it returns to the hall for its 54th staging this month, running from May 16-19.
“Now at last we’re back where we belong,” says fair director Sue Ede. “We know our regular customers and our exhibitors have missed the building where the fair took place for the previous 51 years.”
Ceramics, silver, jewellery, paintings, and decorative antiques are all on offer and regular returning exhibitors include jewellery dealer Sheldon Shapiro, Melody Antiques, Ellis Fine Art and Art of the Imagination.
Mark Hill of BBC’s Antiques Roadshow will welcome visitors and provide guidance on purchases and there will be the usual opening-day reception in the evening.
First-time exhibitors include Shine on Design, specialising in Art Deco walnut furniture, Paul Burnett Antiques & Interiors and Thomas Spencer Fine Art.
