The demand for vintage fashion never seems to wane, with avid buyers mixing older with modern styles.

Talking about trends in this market, the fair’s organiser, Savitri Coleman, said: “Since we launched in 2009 all kinds of print has been popular among design teams as well as fabric manufacturers who regularly browse the rails.

“French workwear has been another staple on the vintage fair scene as well as Twenties and Thirties chiffon dresses and Art Deco flapper frocks.”

Forties and Fifties fashions were more popular in the fair’s early days, Coleman added, “whereas the Sixties, Seventies and Eighties are highly sought after, particularly designers like Bill Gibb, Ossie Clark and Jean Varon which adorn the rails at every fair”.

Recent retail trends and social awareness are also driving demand.

“With high-street windows looking vintage inspired and global movements like Fashion Revolution and the Centre of Sustainable Fashion scrutinising industry practices and raising awareness, we have seen a much younger audience of conscious shoppers at the fair recently who want current trends but original pieces at a fraction of the price,” said Coleman.
