Having studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Hanoi before attending the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris on a scholarship in 1932, Le Pho merged Impressionism, Surrealism and traditional Chinese painting in his work. He is best known known for his depictions of nudes, gardens, and floral still-lifes.
Mother and Child, 18 x 15in (45 x 38cm) oil on silk on board, is signed in both English and with character marks and is estimated at £5000-7000.
