Co-organiser Gary Wallis said: “We’re looking like 150-plus stands as against 70 last year. Ticket sales are flourishing and there are plenty of trade enquiries from dealers in Asia, Australia, America and Europe all looking to visit and tag the fair onto the end of a buying trip to Newark and Lincoln.”

A charity preview evening takes place on May 31 from 7-9pm with tickets priced at £35 to include a weekend pass to the fair.

The exhibitor list for this event offers what looks to be a good mix of decorative antiques, salvage, architectural reclamation, gardenalia and textiles. Dealers include Reclamation Warriors from Mayenne, France; Henley Reclamation; John Wiseman Architectural Antiques in London and Guy Trevenix Trench’s company Antiques by Design in Maldon, Essex, whose motto is Reclaim, Recycle, Reuse.

Linda North Antiques will be offering architectural garden statuary and among the decorative dealers are Josephine Ryan Antiques of London, Chris Holmes Antiques from Harrogate and John Cornall Antiques in Warwick (see picture caption).

Transylvanian treats

Some of his items are pictured above. From Transylvania comes this hardwood mid-19th century carved shepherd’s table at £550. The coat in the picture, says Cornall, is a magnificent and rare embroidered Hungarian shepherd’s coat dated to 1885 and priced at £1100, while the small brown and white tinglaze jug on the table is a c.1800s Transylvanian ‘bokaly’ or brandy jug at £65. The shepherd’s crook dates to the 1940s, was made by a Hungarian soldier in a prisoner-of-war camp and costs £75.
