Fieldings’ Decades of Design auction in Stourbridge on October 5 includes this rare Wiener Werkstätte pottery vase estimated at £3000-5000.
Attributed to Josef Hoffmann, the 15½in (39cm) hand-thrown vase is hand painted to an orange glazed ground with a frieze of stylised goats and sheep in black and white. It is impressed with the Wiener Werkstätte mark, made in Austria, and the number 77.
This vase, originally overpainted in green, was found in a market in South Africa by the vendor.
