This 20th century oil of a young girl dancing a jig with fiddlers was one of three typical works by the Dublin-born painter offered at Adam Partridge (20% buyer’s premium) in Cheshire on February 20.
The signed 19 x 23in (49 x 59cm) oil on canvas At The Feis, which captures the movement and life found in many of Conor’s compositions, tipped over a £5000-8000 estimate to sell for £9600.
Bettering this at £12,200 (estimate £5000-8000) was an oil of his work The Street Dance, a chalk version of which had sold for €38,000 (around £32,000) at auction in Ireland in 2010.
Completing the trio, the loosely worked 19 x 15in (48 x 38cm) pastel drawing There’s More Than One Heaven of a mother holding her child sold for £2500 (estimate £2500-3500).
