Nostalgic view

Sarah Colegrave Fine Art’s online catalogue Home Thoughts of Abroad, for example, includes the c.1925 watercolour On the Beach by Henry Charles Brewer (1866-1950) (above).

Offered for £1500, the picture is a nostalgic view for its bathing costumes and its pre-social distancing ethos. The catalogue will remain live until September.

Norfolk move

James Hart Dyke’s 'Blue and red boat' (2020), an acrylic on card measuring 8 x 12in (20 x 30cm), is offered by James Mitchell Fine Paintings, where works are priced from £2500-15,000.

John Mitchell Fine Paintings reorganised its exhibition of paintings by Contemporary artist James Hart Dyke from May until the end of August.

With the gallery’s West End base still quiet, the show was moved to north Norfolk, the setting of the paintings featured.

It will now run in The Boathouse in Burnham Overy Staithe from August 21-September 2. The exhibition includes more than 50 paintings ranging in price from £2500-15,000.

Thomas Creswick’s 'Roslyn Castle: Picnic' measures 14½ x 10½ in (37 x 27cm) and is offered for £8500 by The Maas Gallery.

The Maas Gallery, meanwhile, holds the online-only exhibition Summer in Britain, which features views of the UK by land and sea.

Among the pictures is the 19th century scene Roslyn Castle: Picnic by Thomas Creswick (1811-69). According to an inscription, it includes figures painted by Marcus Stone. It is offered for £8500.

Summer celebration

Available for £5500, this gouache by Mary Fedden, 'Still Life with Egg Cup and Volcano', is offered by Clark Art.

In Cheshire, Clark Art is holding A Celebration of Summer 2020, which features works by Modern and Contemporary British artists and runs until September 1.

Since the gallery launched the show in June it has sold 65 pictures, including a number of drawings by LS Lowry. Among the works still available are those by well-known names such as Mary Fedden, Braaq and Reg Gardner.

Walker Galleries offers Laura Knight’s watercolour over crayon and pencil 'Herbert Hanson the Acrobat', c.1936, for £12,000.

Some galleries have tried new formats for their summer shows.

Walker Galleries in Harrogate is holding a Laura Knight (1877-1970) exhibition on Artsy, its first online show with the platform.

The gallery hopes to reach a wider international buyer base and replace some of its usual fairs business with this and other online ventures. The exhibition will take place simultaneously in the gallery from August 1-31.
