This vase is on offer at Dorotheum on December 7 as part of a Jugendstil and 20th century Arts and Crafts auction.

Made from blown clear glass with a slight iridescence, contained in a softwood stand and measuring 18½in (47cm) high overall, it is from a series which were produced both by Johann Lötz Witwe, Klostermühle and Meyr’s Neffe.

Hoffmann designed his vases for the Bakalowits company at the end of 1899. They were first shown to the public at the Eighth Exhibition of the Vienna Secession in 1900 and the vase was also displayed at the exhibition of the works of the Vienna School of Applied Arts, in 1901.

It has an estimate of €15,000-25,000.
