Painted by the renowned artist Samuel Shufflebotham, c.1907, they are priced at £1800 the pair – one shown here.
They depict Mari Jones who grew up living at the foot of Cader Idris, near Dolgellau. In 1800, aged 15, so the story goes, she walked barefoot 26 miles across the mountains in order to buy her own bible for which she had saved since she was nine.
Towy Events’ first market for 2021 is scheduled to run at the Carmarthen Showground on March 7.
