The example here was made in Marseilles at the Fauchier factory and is decorated in polychrome with acanthus, scrolling foliage and lambrequins. It measures 15 x 12in (38.5 x 30.5cm) and has some restoration to the angles. The estimate is €6000-8000.
Another frame of slightly smaller dimensions, ascribed to south-west France, is decorated in blue camieu with Bérainesque motifs of busts, putti, baskets of flowers, scrolls and draperies. It has some restoration and is estimated at €4000-6000.
