The Aberdeen dealership attends this edition with an agate brooch, c.1860, featuring 48 hand-cut specimens set in engraved silver. It is offered for £595.

Running from March 13-15, the fair is a biannual event now in its 25th year.

Other Scottish dealerships include Cathedral Antiques, Carse Antiques, Julia Drinkhall and John AW Briggs. There are also those from farther afield such as Rowles Fine Art and Bottlebrook Antiques.

The event is organised by Galloway Antiques Fairs and follows its recent fair at Stonyhurst College in storm-hit Lancashire (which ran from February 21-23).

According to organiser Susan Galloway, the fair “survived the floods surprisingly well”.

She added: “There were quite a few regular customers that we didn’t see, but many made it along despite the flooding all around us… the ones that did brave the flooded roads were obviously very determined and spent good money with most of the dealers.”
