The globe measures 3in (8cm) in diameter rather than the standard 2in, a dimension used by the Scottish astronomer James Ferguson (1710-76).

It also has a cartouche reading A Correct Globe with the new Discoveries.

A dashed line that runs along China’s coastline through the Eastern Ocean depicts the 1744 circumnavigational journey of George Anson and California is shown as an exaggerated peninsula jutting south in the Pacific, features which indicate a date of c.1755.

The estimate is $3000-4000.
