It has passed down by descent through the family of Charles-Gilbert de Lachapelle (1755-94) who was head of the offices of the civil list of the king.

His wife Marie Emilie née Leschevin was a close friend of Madame Campan, Queen Marie Antoinette’s first chambermaid.
