1 Why did you decide to open your own shop?
An independent gallery/shop presents the opportunity to create your own unique space and to fully illustrate your own passion for the pieces you admire and search for. And in turn I am able to share with others through the larger space of a shop.
2 What is one little known fact about your field?
I find that a fascinating and constantly exciting aspect of the Art Deco period is the collaboration between artists and artisans: Pablo Picasso and Fernand Léger creating carpet designs commissioned by Marie Cuttoli for her Myrbor Gallery in Paris and the Hungarian sculptor Bela Voros carving buttons and buckles for the Parisian couturier Paul Poiret, and so many more.
3 Tell us about one great discovery you’ve made?
A very rare silver and lacquer bracelet by Jean Dunand created in the 1920s. The kind of piece I had only seen in books and public collections and certainly never thought I would own. It now forms part of a collection in the US created by two very charming and discerning collectors, so it has found a good home.

4 One question it is important for people to ask before buying?
I think to engage with dealers when enquiring about an object as many of them have such knowledge and experience built up over many years which can make a purchase so much more enjoyable and exciting. As a fellow dealer I have learnt so much by listening.
5 One object you couldn’t do without?
My reference library. A constant joy.
