The 13¾in (35cm) high unsigned figure Charity by Sir Alfred Gilbert (1854-1934) was offered by descent from the decorative arts collector and writer Charles Handley-Read (1916-71) and his wife Lavinia. It sold within estimate for £12,000.
A 10in (25cm) bronze of a Great War soldier by William McMillan (1887-1977) outstripped its three-figure estimate to take £7000.
