The Thames Traditional Boat Festival attracted 13,000 visitors in 2019 and organiser Lady McAlpine is hoping for more this year.

She said: “We have a whole antiques street at the festival and we need more dealers to join us in that.

“The Trad, as it’s known among those who love it, is in its 42nd year and is the largest gathering of traditional rivercraft in the world.”

In 2019 the event attracted 13,000 visitors, “so this year we’re hoping for 17,000,” added Lady McAlpine.

“Originally a small gathering, it has grown into a huge family-oriented festival with shops, good food, boatbuilding academies showing their skills and training, Dunkirk boats and displays of vintage transport of every sort.”
