Furnishings by Jacques Emile Ruhlmann were the financial mainstay of the event, contributing €285,350 which was getting on for half the €675,350 total.
These included a classic example of the designer/decorator’s Deco style: a 4ft 11in x 3ft 6in (1.5m x 98cm) Duval cabinet on a low rectangular stand from c.1924 made from a variety of exotic woods such as macassar ebony and burr ash and inlaid with a trellis of ivory fillets.
Stamped Ruhlmann and with the circular workshop mark, this went just over the upper estimate at €92,000 (£83,635).

The second-highest price of the auction was paid for a pair of cuboid stools which had been attributed to another major Deco era name: Pierre Legrain.
The 18in (45cm) high stools, in red and black lacquer heightened with burnished silver leaf, sold within the guide at €62,000 (£56,365).
