This 19th century table screen or stand measuring 2ft (61cm) across included both a porcelain plaque decorated in famille rose enamels with figures in a mountainous landscape and a carved wood table frame with rectangular plinth.
It was potentially made in aloeswood: the revered dark and resinous heartwood of the evergreen aquilaria tree known in China as chenxiangmu.
Pieces of this type are in particularly strong demand and this one, very modestly pitched at £200-400, brought £29,000.
