Organised by Galloway Antiques Fairs, it runs from November 5-7 at the stately red sandstone Scone Palace in Perth, the event’s home for almost 30 years.

Around 30 dealers have signed up, mainly from Scotland, north England and the Midlands, and bring with them furniture, silver, porcelain, pottery, oriental carpets, works of art, paintings and much more. Prices range from £50 to £30,000.

Scottish theme

A Scottish theme runs through the stand of North Yorkshire dealer Graham Reed Fine Art, with a watercolour by Glasgow-born artist Charles James Lauder (1840-1920) showing the vast Walter Scott monument in Edinburgh priced at £1750 and a signed watercolour of The Dee at Aberdeen painted by local Victorian artist John Mitchell (1837-1926) ticketed at £750.

Elsewhere, Highland Antiques from Aberdeen offers a rare silver gilt purse made in London by Thomas Johnson in 1874. The piece has a gilt body cast with flying birds and flowers and a navy-blue leather interior with a pseudo clip on the front and costs £1495.

Lancashire dealer Solo Antiques, specialist in Art Deco and Art Nouveau bronze sculpture and glass, returns for a second time to the fair bringing an Art Deco cold painted bronze table lamp decorated with three pheasants perched on a tree for sale at £750 and a 16in (40cm) high Art Deco bronze dancer by Demétre Chiparus priced at £10,750.
