The fair is organised by the SNA (Syndicat National des Antiquaires), the French Antiques Dealer Association, and was originally staged every other year until 2016 when it became an annual event.
It used to open in September at the beginning of the Paris art market’s autumn season but this version has moved to later in the season.
The exhibitor list for the 32nd staging numbers around 60 dealers showing a mix of fine art, antiques, design, horology and jewellery.
BRAFA's January date
Having run as a gallery-based and online event this year, BRAFA Art Fair, Brussels’ annual flagship event for art and antiques, will return next year to its home at the Belgian capital’s Tour & Taxis centre as a physical, in-person event.
It is staged from January 23-30 with 134 exhibitors. They are composed of a majority of long-standing participants and a contingent of new names: nine who joined during the 2021 gallery-based edition and nine for whom it will be a first participation.
The decoration for the 2022 edition will be provided by Arne Quinze (b.1971), a Belgian multidisciplinary artist who is the guest of honour. He will be present at BRAFA with paintings, drawings, sculptures, sound and video installations, and the design for the fair’s carpet.
