Running from October 21 to November 6 in Clifford Street, the show contains objects in metal, stone, ceramic and silk, including a monumental dry lacquer head of a bodhisattva (one of only three known examples) and this sancai-glazed zodiac animal figure with a human body and a horse’s head.

The latter is offered with a low seven-figure price tag and is regarded as particularly unusual to have a glazed, rather than unglazed, head with the eyes, mane and forelock picked out in amber. The ‘three-colour’ or sancai lead glazes were introduced in the Tang period mostly for the decoration of tomb wares.
