The scene across both vases is also unusual, depicting an official being instructed to move to another position and presented with new boots.

Formerly in the notable Jie Rui Tang collection, the pair are priced at £220,000 in an exhibition of Chinese porcelain painted in famille verte and wucai enamels during the reign of the Kangxi emperor.

The show, taking place at Marchant in Kensington Church Street from October 28 to November 12, comprises 18 works sourced from various private collections.
