It is decorated with a scene of Dejima island and a procession that includes members of the Dutch East India Company (VOC).

The head merchant of the VOC is shown carried aloft in a palanquin. A comparable pair of cabinets featuring depictions of Dejima are currently on special loan to the Rijksmuseum from the Royal Dutch Collections, at Huis Ten Bosch Palace.

This 3ft 4in (1m) example comes for sale at Woolley & Wallis by descent from a private collection in Norfolk.

As part of the November 23 sale of Japanese Works of Art at the Salisbury salerooms, it has expectations of £40,000-60,000.
