Last month, Stockholm firm Modernity opened a new showroom at 230-236 Westbourne Grove in Notting Hill, formerly occupied by clothing shop Joseph.
The gallery, which specialises in furniture, ceramics, glass, lighting and jewellery by leading 20th century Scandinavian designers, has been strengthening its presence in the capital since opening a London office and gallery space in the West End.
Sebastien Holt, Modernity’s UK director, said: “Modernity has had a permanent presence in London since February 2020 when we opened our first exhibition space at 14 Cavendish Square. The reaction from new and existing clients was extremely positive. We therefore decided to invest further in our presence in London by taking the iconic space on Westbourne Grove.”
The Cavendish Square space is currently closed for restoration.
Following a bullish year of sales, London gallery Antique Modern Mix has relocated from the King’s Road to larger premises in nearby Fulham Road.
The new showroom at 91-97 Fulham Road is next door to Chelsea’s famous Art Deco building Michelin House – UK headquarters for many years to the Michelin tyre company and now home to the Bibendum restaurant.
The gallery, which specialises in Mid-century Modern design, period antiques and decorative pieces, pointed to a successful year of trading for the move.
Charlotte Skye, who runs the business with her father Sof Sofokleous, said: “We had been in the King’s Road for a year and due to significant success were able to relocate to a larger site. With an impressive large frontage and a downstairs space, we now have more space to showcase our large and eclectic collection of mid 20th century design classics, period antiques and beautiful decorative items.”
