The event is usually held at Harrogate Convention Centre. However, the venue was being used by the NHS Nightingale Hospital Yorkshire and the Humber which had a contract until March, meaning planning the fair in advance was not possible.

The Garden Rooms

Tennants in Leyburn created a large purpose-built event space on the same site as its saleroom in 2015 where it hosts various events and conferences.

The venue, known as The Garden Rooms, will welcome the antiques fair from September 30-October 3.

Paul Freeman, events and hospitality director at The Garden Rooms, said: “We are delighted to be hosting The Northern Antiques Fair. It is encouraging to see a return to events again and we hope the fair will be a success for all.”

The event, dating back to 1951, includes exhibitors who are primarily members of The British Antique Dealers’ Association (BADA) and LAPADA. This year it will comprise 35 exhibitors selling across the art and antiques spectrum.

Fair director Ingrid Nilson said: “Judging from the response from readers of regional magazines, there is a huge appetite for complimentary invitations. The venue is well known for its good catering and excellent facilities, not least parking for 600 vehicles.

“We have an exciting line-up of specialist exhibitors, some who have been part of the fair for decades and others who are joining us for the first time, and the aim is to present the buying public with as varied and eclectic a choice of art and antiques as possible.”
