First, on October 10, will be the collection of Lady Victoria White of Beverly Hills, California. Then, on October 24, comes the first of a series of sales of the collection of John Nelson, the man behind the eponymous John Nelson Antiques of Los Angeles.
Lady White’s collection will feature furniture and decorative arts including silver, oriental and European ceramics and an extensive library of books. Her life-long love of horses is reflected in several paintings by Sir Alfred Munnings (1878-1959) including a 20in x 2ft (51 x 61cm) work from 1922, Kilkenny Horse Fair, top, estimated at $200,000-300,000.
Among the pieces on offer from the John Nelson collection will be this early 19th century scagliola inset and gilt bronze mounted mahogany centre table, above, which has an estimate of $2000-4000.
