This Commonwealth period porringer, with marks for the unattributed maker DJ and London 1649, featured punch-decorated oval reserves, twin-scroll handles and the ownership initials MB.

The flared pedestal foot was unusual and appeared to have been cut down or clipped to edges at some point. The piece had, however, been cleared by The Antique Plate Committee.

Estimated at £1000-1500 at the sale on January 27, it took £4000.
