Painting by David Teniers the younger – estimate SFr80,000-120,000 at Koller.
The 2ft x 2ft 6in (61 x 76.5cm) oil on canvas, which is signed D Teniers Fec lower right, will be one of the highlights of the sale of Old Master Paintings to be held by Koller in Zurich on April 1 where it has an estimate of SFr80,000-120,000.
The subject was very popular in the 16th and 17th centuries and at least a dozen versions are listed in the artist’s oeuvre. Dr Margret Klinge, who has provided the certificate for the painting, dates it to the period of Teniers’ work in Brussels in the early 1660s.
