A 1958 England International three lions badge football cap

Among the highlights of Mullock’s recent Rugby & Football Memorabilia sale on December 8 was this 1958 England International three lions badge football cap, from when they played USSR at the World Cup in Sweden. It had been awarded to Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Bill Slater. Against a £500-600, it was hammered down at £1800 (plus 24% buyer’s premium inc VAT).

The sporting memorabilia and collectables specialist has moved from near Church Stretton to Halesfield, south of Telford, also in Shropshire.

It will continue to operate its auctions online and offers viewings by appointment at the new premises.

Owner Ben Jones took over in 2020 from John Mullock who founded the auction house in 1996.

Jones, who had been with the firm for more than a decade, worked his way up over the years and when Mullock retired Jones decided to run the business.

Mullock remains a consultant specialising in golf.

Jones said: “The new location is just off the motorway and people can easily drive up from London or down from Scotland as we are in the middle of the country.

“Compared to our previous more rural location we are now accessible for many new buyers.”

The team of 13 also offers in-house packing and Jones plans to continue to grow its specialist sales of historical documents and ephemera; cameras; watches and jewellery alongside its sport ing memorabilia sales.

Jones added: “We cover all the ‘big boys toys’ across the collectables market.”
