A copy of the 1962 first issue of Incredible Hulk seen above, said CBA’s Malcolm Phillips, will in any condition do well, but the bid of £6000 needed to secure this well-worn example, one that even showed evidence a “bug chew” to the spine, he viewed as incredible.
Among the original artworks on offer was a double-page, full colour spread from a 1962 issue of Eagle featuring Heros the Spartan. Signed by its creator, Frank Bellamy, and the third of his Heros artworks that they have offered in recent sales, it sold at £4350.
Bid to £1520 was a lot offering three consecutive full-page, black and white artworks by Joe Colquehoun for a tale that appeared in Battle magazine No 264 of 1984.
The first of those artworks for ‘Charley’s War’, an illustrated tale focused on the Battle of the Somme of 1916, is shown above.
