Mid-century specialist Retrovintage offers this Danish drop-leaf table by Peter Hvidt & Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen for France & Søn.
The Model 20/59, designed c.1955, is made from solid teak and stamped with a maker’s mark. Hvidt & Mølgaard was a Copenhagen design and architectural firm founded in 1944. The duo worked together until 1975.
There is surprisingly little known about France & Søn despite the volume of its output. It is generally agreed that it was founded in 1948 by British businessman Charles W France and Dane Eric Daverkosen who later left the business.
This dining table, which can also serve as a console table when the leaves are down, is available for £2499.
