The Suffolk auction house opened in 2015 in Stowmarket and is creating a new 3000 sq ft saleroom and offices near Holt.

The first phase of the development, complementing the existing Suffolk site, will open by the autumn with further works due to complete before the end of this year.

The new saleroom will hold a calendar of auctions including an East Anglian Art sale, a Folk Art auction, Maritime antiques and Wine and Whisky to follow.

The location in Glandford (near both Holt and Blakeneyin the north of the county) is close to a group of tea shops and an art gallery in the hamlet.

As part of the expansion, Bishop & Miller has hired Kevin Lines, previously of Keys in Aylsham, as a picture specialist based in the new saleroom.

He will work closely with Steven Stockton, who joined Bishop & Miller last year (previously at Tennants and Bonhams) and has the new role of head of business development.

Other new recruits include Lauren Gardner, who joins as a jewellery specialist (previously a freelance probate valuer), and prints and multiples specialist Lucy Woodley Jones who joins from Bonhams.

Three administrative staff have been hired for the new venue.

The company now employs 21 people and managing director Oliver Miller said: “A lot is going on. The development is under way and the new sales calendar kicks off in September.

“We already have some great consignments.”
