A 1693 copy of Hortus Indicus Malabaricus… featured in ATG No 2550 was at £180,000, one of of the dozen or so lots sold for six-figure sums by Sotheby’s (26/20/13.9% buyer’s premium) that presented natural history works from a major collection, formed and meticulously documented over the period 1927-60.
