A 19th century Tibetan conch shell ritual trumpet, known as a dung-dkar – estimate £800-1200 at Olympia Auctions.
The group features as a highlight of Olympia Auctions’ Asian Works of Art sale on May 11.
Bingham, a leading dealer in antique musical instruments for over 50 years (for four decades he had a gallery on Pond Street, Hampstead), has recently retired.
The trumpet, which is encased in silver and set with turquoise and coral, includes dragons, birds and other animals amid clouds in its decoration. A very similar example can be found in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
