Among the highlights was this car mascot from the late 1920s which doubled the low estimate to take £600. The archer symbol was highly appropriate for US luxury car manufacturer Pierce-Arrow (active from 1901-38 in Buffalo, New York state).

The lot formed part of the collection of Peter Jillings, the owner of Liphook Motors. He has been a collector of automobilia for about 30 years, with most of his collection being displayed at his garage.

A Goodwood enthusiast, Jillings has now decided to down-size his collection and concentrate on his passion for collecting Ferraris.
